A Short History of Torre di Palme
Torre di Palme was founded in the early Middle Ages as a fortified lookout tower protecting Fermo from pirates and coastal raids. Its name (“Tower of Palms”) refers to its defensive purpose and later prosperity. Over centuries, it transformed from a military stronghold into a peaceful village of fishermen and farmers. Today, it’s one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Le Marche, with cobbled streets, arched gates, and breathtaking sea views that haven’t changed in centuries.

Visit the Churches of Sant’Agostino and Santa Maria a Mare
Built in the 13th century, Chiesa di Sant’Agostino features a beautiful Gothic façade and artworks by Vincenzo Pagani, a Renaissance painter from nearby Monterubbiano. Don’t miss the quiet cloister behind the church — an oasis of calm surrounded by old stone walls.
While, just outside the village walls, Santa Maria a Mare is an 11th-century Romanesque church. Its ancient frescoes and carved capitals make it one of the oldest and most atmospheric places to visit near Fermo.

Nature lovers will enjoy the Bosco of Cugnolo, a short scenic walk that winds through oak trees and Mediterranean scrub. Along the route lies the Grotta degli Amanti, a small cave linked to a local love legend — often called the “Romeo and Juliet of Torre di Palme.” – Signs for the Bosco can be found easily at the town entrance, it’s on the South/West side of the Village

Best time to visit this village is from late spring until mid autumn, in the summer you can enjoy a dinner outdoor in one of the little squares, there are many restaurants in Torre Di Palme. In late Sprint you can enjoy the town while preparing for the Summer season, then at its peak of life in Summer and then Autumn when still weather is great and the town is still geared up from the Summer.
